Popped in here for a lunch at 2pm on a weekday. Ordered Pea and Mint soup, expecting it to be a light, bright summery soup. It looked and tasty exactly like thinned down mushy peas and mint sauce. It was that odd dull browny green. Ok, perhaps my expectations were too high! But it tasted awful bitter and vinegary so much so that the roll butter were the best thing. We sat in easy view of the waitress and the lady on the till who watched whilst the soup was prodded at and dipped into. She could see that we were not happy. No one came to clear our plates, nor to ask if everything was ok. Many menu items had already been sold out we were told, and I didn’t fancy/couldn’t eat any of the remaining options. We were going to stay for cake and coffee, but dare not risk it. It’s a shame as it’s a lovely ambience and a super elegant and airy room. We were scouting it out for a large family get together, so glad we tried it before we arranged anything. Perhaps because you pay for food when you order, they don’t care if you enjoy your meal they’ve already taken your money. This cafe could be improved upon tremendously. I realise that if we only wanted a coffee and cake, we may have had a totally different experience.
