What a gem! Fresh, new and different popla was superb. Highly recommend the dumpling, socca and smoked trout. Thank you to the lovely staff for you fantastic, attentive service. We will be back!

We were in Bellingen for just a one night stopover on our way up north and our host recommended Popla to us. We were highly pleased with the quality, presentation and balancing of each of the dishes. Thank you for a gorgeous and impressive meal! Good luck with everything.

Amazing food - truly inventive menu with local produce - inspired and inspiring menu. Staff were friendly, attentive and fun. Drinks and desert menu also excellent. The venue has had a wonderful makeover. 5⭐️ GO!

So glad we stopped off on the way up the coast, on the recommendation of local friends. Incredible food, the prawns and the mushroom tart for the win! Homemade bread and a killer drinks list. Service was smooth and informed and sorted all dietaries without even a blink. Doesn't get much better than this for us. Thanks Popla.

We ate here with a group of 9 adults and 3 kids and could not fault the food or service. The fussy kids (8,9 and 10yo) shared the chicken with rice cakes and loved how juicy the chicken was. Us adults shared 5 dishes between us taking the waitresses suggestions which were perfect. The best T-bone steak ever cooked to perfection and the wine was magnificent. We highly recommend the beer on tap also. Definitely be back!

Interesting food although flavours don't really work that well IMO. Everything is done in twos. You are forced to share with your eating partner because the plates are quite big, so if you don't agree you have a dilemma. Outdoor seating with pretty uncomfortable chairs " a la Harry Bertoia" without any kind of cushioning. Inside also very trendy but likewise very uncomfortable seating. One long wooden bench along the wall (you guessed it, without padding), an a few independent tables with bentwood chairs this time with a chair pad. The very young waitress was standing at the door with her finger in her navel (literally, scratching it), and when paying the bill was not even able to say thank you or look me in the eye. The only male waiter was over the top, loud and annoying.

Went for Sunday lunch and it was delicious. The bread with 'butter' for starters was delicious as was the bread with olives. The charred greens with the sesame and tahini dressing was unctuous. The prawns were charred and crispy so the lot could be eaten and the chicken deliciously tender and lovely. We are so happy that there's some good food in the area and we'll definitely go again. Glad to see a first class restaurant back in Bellingen - after the sad departure of No 2 Oak street some years ago.It's an interesting menu that is thoughtfully put together. Prices from $15 - $40 plus. Well prepared and presented and excellent staff/Thought the wine list was attempting to be too unique and maybe they need to add some classic bolder reds and whites.Prefer the outside area, which is very warm and cozy and was surprised that Simon when booking tried to persuade us to come for the 815pm service as half the outside tables were unused when we came at 615pm.Not sure that Bellingen will warm to a split service but makes sense for owners as it's hard to town to make money in the restaurant business.So overall a great start and I hope it takes off and is a huge success.
