The castle is worth a visit. The lady managing the ticket office was very friendly. We wanted coffee at this beautiful setting in this restaurant. We asked if we could have a cup of coffee, the waited showed us to a table. We were contemplating having lunch, but after being ignored for 10 minutes by decided to leave.

Relaxed atmosphere set within the castle courtyard which made this a superb location. Service was attentive and chef kindly walked us through the menu making suggestions for alternatives to allow us to sample the best locally inspired dishes. Sophisticated presentation with adequate portions of heavenly tasting food! The mushroom risotto veal uccelli scappati was a highlight for us both. The walk up from Bellinzona sharpens the appetite and it is well worth a visit....we'll be back!

Placed in one of the three castles of Bellinzona (the one that dominates the city), the ristorante offers a refined cooking. The room has still its medieval charm with modern comfort. The service was nice and rapid. I certainly recommend the ristorante for people with allergies since they offer gluten free food and lactose free on request.

This space housed us in a private room that was fit for king. They plated us with appetizers and a 5 course meal. I felt like I was at a 3 star Michelin rated restaurant. The chef really made an excellent presentation and the food was delicious. Don't expect American style portions, but expect exquisite cuisine.

We decided to walk up to one or two of the lower castles but in the end couldn't resist the walk to Sasso Corbaro. It isn't too bad a climb, about an hour from the station and there are several short cuts for walkers.Once I entered and saw the word 'osteria' I knew where I was going to eat lunch! I wasn't let down. The food was very imaginative and interesting, we enjoyed a few glasses of very decent house wine and the service was excellent. We were allowed to take our time and relax in the outside part of the restaurant which is under an awning. It was a very pleasant meal and although one couldn't see the views from the table one knew where one was so could then enjoy the views before and afterwards while concentrating on food and drink at the meal. The prices for food were average and wine started at CHF 35 a bottle.

It's a nice place and don't get me wrong, it's usually really good and authentic...but it all boils down to the fact that the owner/chef is in a good mood or not...been there both time and it can go from a Michelin night to a crappy "take away" night...so be night and wish yourself luck :-)Nice to try.

After visiting the Saturday morning market in Bellinzona we decided to walk all the way up to Castello Sasso Corbaro - which is quite a steep climb. As a reward we treated ourselves to lunch at the Osteria Sasso Corbaro which is right inside the beautiful castle. Unfortunately, it was too cold to sit outside in the courtyard, but the small restaurant is a very nice place and we received a warm welcome, being the only guests. We didn't want to eat too much and our waiter recommended the sesonal asparagus risotto, after a starter of garden salad with goat cheese. Both courses were beautiful to look at on the plate, and just delicious to eat! Add a glass (or two) of chilled Italian white wine and there's nothing else you'd wish for on a somewhat grey and coolish spring day. We'll be back for their Menu Gastronomico one day...

I recommend this restaurant for those who want to enjoy fine food, well served in an aparted location. Ideal for friends-meeting, business or romance. The location is quite spectacular: a well preserved castle on the top of a hill, above Bellinzona and its two other castles. Especially at night the view is something to enjoy. I tried starter (scallops), first course (small cannelloni), second course (goat) and dessert (crème brulèe. In all cases the chef did something special, of his own and the result was excellent. I would say that you don't get regular food here, you get elaborated, fine food. The interiors aren't particularly special. In the summer there's a fine courtyard with outdoor seating, surrounded by the stone walls of the castle.I'll definitely come back.
