when we arrived the restaurant with the help of gps, I was so surprised that the restaurant is the property of a casino. eating is average, but the presentation of the dishes are beautiful.

the restaurant giardino is one of two restaurants in the hotel allegro. as the name already says, the restaurant is in a garden with ponds, coy carp and two escapes! the weather allows to offer a spacious outdoor terrace with spacious sun umbrellas diners shade. as part. This Italian restaurant also offers comfortable sofa chairs and low tables around the garden for a relaxed feeling. we found the service to these could sometimes be on the slow side. 12 of us have sung in giardino with two children (6 and 2). eating was fresh, tasteful and typical Italian. service was good, English menus are available for non-German speakers. we had to ask for kisses for our seats on the table on the terrace. not a big thema and kisses were brought immediately. this is the third time that we have dined into giardino and have a positive experience at every opportunity. the children love to feed the escapes and explore the enclosed green space.
I was dining alone as I was travelling on business. I had just travelled from Germany by train and was dressed casually (as staying at the Hotel Allegro where the restaurant is situated). The waiter was aloof and unwelcoming as though I should not be...dining there. I ordered the antipasti plate which was good and the tomato soup which was unseasoned, lukewarm and lacked flavour, definitely not good. It was early and there were only a couple of diners in the room. The waiters were preparing tables. My waiter grabbed some cutlery from the buffet and dropped a fork or knife. He picked it up and placed it on top of the buffet to the side whilst he placed the other cutlery on the tables. After he completed this task, he came back to the buffet, picked up the knife/fork that he had dropped on the floor and placed back into the cutlery drawer with the clean cutlery.
The restaurant is located inside the Kursaal. We had a very nice and comfortable evening, attentive service, thanks to the service staff!!! Concerning the food, quality is very good, you can feel the Italian hand behind the dishes and indeed in the kitchen are all...italians. If you're in Bern I really suggest you to pay a visit.
We were staying at the Allegro hotel for a couple of nights in Bern on a trip across Europe. The first night we were there we had eaten a pretty good size lunch and wanted a light supper, and we decided to stay in and...eat in the hotel. The food and service were excellent, and the next night, after a day of exploring the countryside around Bern and Burgdorf, we decided to eat at the hotel again, this time a full meal. The wine suggestions for Swiss wine went excellently with the Osobuco and the veal chops we had for dinner, and again the food and bar service was first rate. We definitely would dine there again.
Very pleasent place to have a meal or just a drink. The outside space is great for sunny days, relaxing with a great service.
