We sat outside as it was very hot and enjoyed steak with jacket potatoes, a good Swiss red wine, a fab Swiss beer and a pork dish. They were very busy but the food came quickly. It was a little slower getting the bill but they were not in a rush to have our table back so we just sat back and enjoyed the breeze.
We used Brig as a base camp to travel to various locations in the area. The town has a small plaza which is where we found this restaurant. We sat outside enjoying the summer night and kind service. We found the food to be authentic and offering classic options. The schnitzels were very good with a beautiful beer on the side. This is just around the corner from a more noisy pub with a more relaxed atmosphere. We would return and enjoy a relaxing dinner.
Even though the dinning room is a bit small and narrow, the quality of the meat they offer outclasses any other feature. The staff is also kind and helpful. Moreover the wine list is also very good.
This was one of the best steaks I had in my life. My friend had a schnitzel and it tasted great. Totally recommended
Simply one of the best steaks we've ever had. The view of the flames in the open hearth (which they use to grill steaks) is also really nice. It felt warm and cozy and everything was delicious!
We visited this restaurant on a previous visit to Brig in 2003 and found it to be small and cosy with great food and service.
So I went out for a late diner with a friend and the food is very good and the portions are fantastic. Totally recommend it.
We visited this restaurant based on reviews on Trip Advisor. We're not sure why everyone rated this so well but we found it to be very ordinary or we ordered the wrong food. We all travel, eat out regularly and don't normally complain but we do wonder where everyone was coming from in recommending this restaurant.It sounds from the reviews the steaks are great and one of our group ordered veal schnitzel which was tasty and looked good but that's where it ended for us.One of our group also ordered the veal schnitzel but the waiter who took the order thought they ordered veal sausage and argued with them that this is what they ordered and proceeded to return with the menu to point this out! Rather than create a scene our friend accepted the dish. This turned out to be a very large sausage laid across a dinner plate of hot chips. My veal escalopes (over cooked and very dry) were served with a mushroom sauce and chips. It was a very plain, uninspiring meal for both of us. We did get a small bowl of lettuce, tomato and carrot on the side too.Perhaps we needed to think of the restaurant as a pub first and food second. Either way it was not what we were expecting based on Trip Advisor reviews.We wouldn't recommend this restaurant to friends.
