After a long walk of few hours from the center of Grindelwald from there, we were so happy to find the place in front of the glacier. Perfect for a sandwich and feel the bottles for the way back. The owner is a really nice guy.The price are high, normal cause all come by helicopter due to the altitude and the isolate place.You have to go until there, almost no tourist (just us and 5 others walkers).
Tolle Wanderung von Grindelwald über Pfingstegg zum Berggasthaus Baeregg! Heiri und Helen haben uns sehr gastfreundlich empfangen und uns unseren Aufenhalt super angenehm gestaltet. Die Zimmer sind einfach aber sauber und das Essen war top (!!!) von der Hütte hat man wundervolle Ausblicke ins Tal oder auf den Gletscher und kann den stressigen Alltag vergessen. Wir würden immer wieder kommen. Tolle Gastgeber, schöne Location!
We hiked from Grindelwald to Pfingstegg in about an hour. We took longer to hike to Bäregg, but we took our time and ate a snack. It was harder than I thought it would be at the end but very worth it! Great hike! We got a beer and enjoyed our time. The reviews said how expensive it was but I didn't find the prices any worse than in Grindelwald. Pretty reasonable!
Walked up to this restaurant from grindelwald a nice we climb to it through the gorge some fantastic views from the restaurant to the glaciers. and nice food and drink friendly staff.
Spent one night at Baregg fairly late in the season on the first night of snowfall for Grindelwald. The whole place to ourselves but spent with the lovely hosts Heiri and Helen. A Truely unforgettable and magical experience which like everything else in Switzerland is very expensive.This place is a must!
We had looked forward to a visit to Baregg for some time and were not disappointed. The walk up was full of wonderful and changing views of Grindelwald and the glaciers up above. Sitting on the terrace with a cold beer and home cooked food with the breathtaking views will remain a lasting memory of what is magical about Switzerland for a very long time.
Switzerland is great for having mountain destinations, and the friendly folks at Bäregg make the strenuous hike from the Pfingstegg cable car station well worthwhile. A good selection of hot dishes and delicious cakes - all with an incredible view. The prices are a bit higher than in-town (and it's a fairly expensive town to start with), but what do you expect when everything must arrive by helicopter! Totally worth it!
You have to earn a beer at this restaurant. The path from the Pfinstegg cable car winds slowly uphill for about 80 minutes to reach this magnificently situated place. As you walk, the view of Grindelwald (initially) and the glacier, the back of the Eiger, the two Fiescherhorns are so fantastic that you almost forget that you are walking uphill...But, believe me, it's worth it. The couple who run the restaurant are friendly and welcoming and the food is good, wholesome fare. But the beer (draft Ruggenbrau) tastes particularly wonderful and refreshes tired legs enough to face the more challenging walk further up the glacier towards the base of the Shreckhorn (but avoid if you are nervous about heights).
