It's hard to understand why a chef of the calibre of Jérémie Ollivier hasn't been awarded all the Michelin stars by now.His food at l'Atelier Gourmand is simply breathtaking. Beautiful to look at, even more beautiful in the taste.Local fish, local meat, local cheese, local herbs and flowers and leaves are presented in a variety of small dishes from the set menu (priced at 110CHF during summer 2016).Some of the flavours you will not have experienced before. And you will be desperate to try them again. As the title suggests, this visit wasn't our first. Each time, we learn more and more. We've already booked to go again in a couple of weeks' time. It will be the same menu of course but we want to experience it all over again.I recommend the 55CHF wines selection to go with your meal. Lots of variety and a superb complement to the food.L'Atelier Gourmand deserves to be on anyone's list of must-visit restaurants.

Lovely lunch in the sun, expensive but nice. Food was good, service was good. Helpful advice from staff. Nice village to walk round.

My husband and I shared a quiet birthday dinner here shortly after the New Year. There were only two tables occupied in the pretty dining room that evening. We elected to order from the a la carte side of the menu as we thought the tasting menu would be too much food, particularly with all the entre mets, so we were surprised and gratified to discover that the waiter kept arriving with little offerings between the courses. The presentation was immaculate, and little touches like the butter sprinkled with freshly ground pepper to accompany the crusty bread, were unusual and delightful. The meal was paced very slowly which allowed us time to savour every course, but it did mean we were at the table for about three hours. And we appreciated that the wine was poured judiciously so that it lasted too. It was one of the best meals I have had in a restaurant in several years. We also discovered that the restaurant has a private room that can accommodate about 16 people.

I discovered this restaurant in 2009 when I was taken for a business dinner (the restaurant can be privatised for about 20 people). Since, I have been back with me husband about 10 times for different personal celebrations as it has easily become our favourite restaurant even if we leave about 100 kilometers away. The gastronomic kitchen is imaginative and of superb quality, made with extremely fresh local ingrediaents (from alpine flowers to wild mushrooms from the local woods), hardly matched by the many 1* Michelin restaurants we have visited accross Europe.Menu is always limited in choice but more than sufficient, which speaks to the quality and freshness of the plates served. However, the chef is increadibly flexible to adapt to specific tastes, allergies or conditions (as my advanced pregnancy when I recently visited...).Service is impolute, and the warm, simple and very authentic "Swiss Chalet" atmosphere they have succeeded to create will most probably make you want to go back. Not to mention the very good value for money, specially for their special theme set menus. And on top now they have a nice bar and a few rooms to plan a perfect romantic escapade... In summary, I couldn't recommend the "Atelier Gourmand" more highly, although I really hope it can keep that special "hidden jewel" feel for many years to come.

Just had dinner the other day at the Atelier Gourmand. We have been here several times before and each time has been truly amazing and excellent value. The chef is truly talented, the service is second-to-none and the atmosphere perfectly created – elegant and relaxed usually with some nice background music. To be honest it is a complete mystery to me that this restaurant does not have a Michelin star. This has to be one of my all-time favourite restaurants.I cannot recommend it highly enough.

We booked a table at 7.30 on New Year's Eve, never expecting that we'd still be sitting there enjoying every aspect of our set dinner at midnight! The perfect place to see in the new year, with absolutely stunning dishes, building up to the leanest venison I've ever eaten. Perfect

The L'atelier gourmand (on the first floor) is the "haute cuisine" of the "Cafè du Nord" which is on the ground floor. The food is excellent and well presented! They use fresh and good quality of products and they play good with the taste. It is the kind of food you can find in posh hotels and places in posh ski resorts. The price is high but once again, you have to pay for quality. The main room although is nice i do not find it cosy, the private dinning area though (next to the bar) is the best place to be with your friends where discretion and good deco taste is there! The only thing they should ameliorate slightly is the service, we found it long, but I suppose preparing elaborated dishes for a table of 9 people it must not be very easy time-wise either. If you are looking for "cuisine élaborée" then this is the place to go!I loved it!
