The menu is simple, and written out by hand each day. Fresh ingredients, delicious wine and sinfully good deserts await you. I enjoyed my evening on the tastefully-decorated terrace and it was only to wash my hands at the end of the meal that I discovered the charming interior, replete with antique furniture. This restaurant is a true gem.
We had an awesome experience at this restaurant! We are Americans and don't speak the language. They were so kind and patient with us; the owner even came out and assisted us with the parking meters! The menus are hand-written daily and our entrees were delicious! The desserts were beautiful!!! After I finally chose one dessert, the owner brought me two, since they knew we were visitors. They also gave us Swiss chocolates at the end of our meal. Please give this restaurant a try!
The service is personal, with a hand written menu. Fodd is simply great. I had a tartar beef, ground ans spiced to perfection. I would very much like to return.
If you find yourself in Chiasso, Switzerland on the Southern border approaching Italy there is no other choice in fine dining than Osteria Giadinetto. You will have be impressed with the homey charm and comfort, hand written menus and elegant and tasty dishes. The food is fresh and delicious. We started with the green salad, topped with fennel and an impressive set of balsamic vinegar. We then shared the Salmon and spinach, and deer (in a wellington like sauce scrumptious) and potatoes. Portions were appropriate and filling with enough room for us to have espresso and chocolate tort and grape filled and orange cake (complimentary from our waiter/manager). The white wine, which I forgot which was served was smooth and lightly sweet. Most important, was the entire staff was friendly, our waiter spoke very coherent English and extremely helpful and kind in guiding us through a wonderful dinning experience. The chef made a point to come to our table and greet us after the meal. The price of the meal was appropriate for this type of experience. Had a short stopover in Chiasso, drove through the streets hoping for a nice discovery and to avoid Kebabs and Pizza. This is the place to go for good Italian food! Nice details, fresh food, absolutely friendly service! Follow the suggestions of the manager, you won't regret it.
Very quiet area! Waiter explained the menu easily in English! Could sit outside. Fresh and homemade food. Little bit too expensive. 500 ml white Neuchatel wine served in Erlenmeyer: funny but 30 CHF! Total bill easily went up to 82 CHF! But FOD was excellent!
The tipical summer dish is the Tartare. Good also the fish. They also have several choice of white wines. Very quiet place.
I read the reviews and I taught it was at least a romantic restaurant and in some way classy. Well, first of all the menu is hand written which could be nice if is written in a readable way. Then the menu is not for everybody but you should find something to eat. Prices are too high and the quality is just ok not more. The building is old, the furniture is also old. We were sitting next to the windows (which was closed of course) and we could feel the cold air coming inside. Maybe we took the wrong evening but there are better restaurant nearby.
