t is a piece of Japan in Widen. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food is so well prepared and presented, very delicious. All in all the best Japanese restaurants in Switzerland.

We enjoyed the 10 course Kaiseki menu with Sake mariage. Fantastic! Fresh ingredients from Japan prepared exceptionally.

We were at the USAGIYAMA for our Valentine's dinner. The food was just excellent. If you want to feel Kyoto in Switzerland, then I do recommend to visit this restaurant. However, next time I will book an authentic private room, because the dinning hall was just overcrowded and the service was at this evening not to the standard I expected (Various times I had to remind her to fill our glasses and our mineral water order had to be reminded twice.) However, the chef is perfect and even excused for the little errors occurred. This is how it should be done!Definitively we will return.

We greatly enjoyed our yesterday's dinner in Hasenberg. Delicious starters, super fresh tempura, very tender meat to grill at the table and great nigiri is what will make us go to Hasenberg again.

After just visited a hip asian restaurant (which I'd interpret as just another confused restaurant) in the center of Zurich just last night, eating at Ryokan Hasenberg a week ago was just authentic and it was great. Having away from Japan for quite some time, the kaiseki menu was a real treat. You have to expect that the ingredients that you may get in Japan might be difficult to obtain here, so you'd be expecting too much if you were looking for some Kaiseki exactly as it would be in Japan. However from the same reason I give a high score for this restaurant - it provides the Kaiseki experience with the ingredients you can obtain here but be aware, you do see ingredients like abalone in the menu. So for them to have Kaiseki menus starting from CHF170 or so, are appropriate. Kaiseki is a real deal in Japan and you would have to expect them to be much expensive there too. This place is great in the sense that you may choose the restaurant based on your occasion. If we would have brought my child here, then we would have gone to the a la carte restaurant or sushi as Kaiseki menus are meant to take long naturally based on the number of courses to start off with. The view is great from Hasenberg and I would expect that the terrace will also be decorated nicely in summer when the guests could enjoy the food on the terrace with such great view. You do need a car to get to the restaurant but the restaurant inside has calming atmosphere and I could imagine you might make a great deal if you have a business dinner there. It's worth a visit and this is the sort of restaurant I'd appreciate and would like to go back, hope that it keeps up the great work and won't lose its consistency and quality.

My wife and I, both japanophiles, decided to celebrate our first wedding anniversary here. After reading numerous very positive reviews on trip advisor, we went with high expectations, which were nowhere close to be met. We dined at the a la carte restaurant and both had the tasting menu.In summary:Food Satisfactory but not very creative, produce seemed partly not to be very fresh (sea urchin and toro seemed off.) Desert was a total jokeService: Not acceptable. We arrived, instead of a hello we were bluntly asked if we have a reservation and then showed to our table. Throughout the meal, service was inattentive, slow (except when the dishes arrived - we were literally rushed through the meal) and it seemed to us as if we were not welcome at all. Ambiance: not authentic, site looks run down (walls chipped, dirt around ventilation exits)Price: we had two tasting menus, two bottles of water, three beers and two glasses of veuve cliquecot (half filled) for almost 400 CHF. We felt ripped off to be honestSummary - in the end, maybe we were there on the wrong day or just unlucky. Nevertheless, we won't return and can not recommend the place unfortunately.
