Great restaurant with an amazing Italian ambience and great views of the Southern Als a bit outside of Klagenfurt( reachable by public transportation). The food is excellent and inspired by both Mediterranean and local cuisines. The locanda-style decorations reminded us of a recent trip to Tuscany, and the service is super friendly with an English and German speaking friendly native waitress- manager. This will be one of our favorite places in Klagenfurt, we enjoyed the outdoor seating n a warm summer evening, but the place looks very cozy inside as well. Check the opening hours.

The food was outstanding, lamb chops were done just right, calamari were not "rubbery" but tender, bruschetta seasoned just right and the wind was of great quality. Definitely will go there again.

I made the trek to Landhaus Papitsch in the outskirts of Klagenfurt as friends had booked a table there. Several people had already told me how nice it was, so I had high hopes. The interior was indeed very nice and cosy (think alpine chalet with nice art on the wall) and the food decent (I had the "Backhendlsalad" which was good, but came with a pretty nasty garlicky sauce, which I found a strange and unexpected combination). Service was extremely slow, but in all fairness this might have been due to the fact that we were a large group in a separate room, so perhaps staff was more attentive to people on "normal" tables in the main dining area.

From the outside, “Landhaus Papitsch” looks like an old farmhouse and most likely, this was indeed its former purpose. We dropped in haphazardly on a Saturday at late lunchtime. The small restaurant was almost full, but we had the luck that two free seats were available, which the waiter offered to us. The rustic interior of “Landhaus Papitsch”, although refurbished, has kept its original touch. This creates a cozy atmosphere.Evidently, the staff did not succeed to cope with the large number of guests. Nevertheless, this is no excuse for the fact that we were sitting idle for more than ten minutes before receiving a menu. The latter focused on traditional Austrian dishes such as Wiener Schnitzel and the like, but also included fish, seafood and dishes of the Italian and Greek cuisines.Since the place was crowded and everything is freshly made the long waiting times were understandable and no problem for us. Unfortunately, our patience did not really pay off. It started with the pancake strips in the soup, some of which were burnt to such an extent that they tasted bitter. A Carpaccio lacked seasoning and Shrimps Saganaki resembled a sour tomato soup, where the taste of tomatoes dominated far too much.If “Landhaus Papitsch” were a cheap no-name restaurant at the outskirts of town, it might be forgiven for that. However, this place aims higher, as also its somewhat elevated price level reveals. Maybe that the cook is not familiar with foreign dishes and that one should stick to the Austrian cuisine here.
