If you would like to enjoy a typical Heurigen in the middle of ist vineyards, go here. Beverages are served and Food has to be selected in the Little house at the desk. Try a Bratwurst with Sauerkraut ot create yourself a dish with ham and cheese. Enjoy that meal together with the beautiful view on the "backyard" of Vienna
Second stop on our walking wine tour. Food and wine by different servers but they did an excellent job keeping us fed and full of wine. Really enjoyed the four different spreads for their bread.
We went to this Heurigen on a Saturday evening together with friends and family who suggested going there, why I don't know. The only thing the place has going for it is its (isolated) location in the vineyards of Vienna with a lovely view of the plane below and parts of the city, which can only be enjoyed in the summer when the weather is fine. On the flip side, there is the grimy, smelly and cramped interior with a particularly unappealing buffet run by unfriendly and inefficient service staff. Due to the slow service, the queues in front of the buffet were endless so that it was impossible for the guests to have their food together. The quality and taste of the food was as poor as could be expected in view of its unappetising presentation. We will definitely not go there ever again.
The location for Sirbu is stunning - you are surrounded by the Viennese vineyards with superb views down on Vienna and the Danube. We have been visiting this place for many years as it makes for a great stop when walking down from Kahlenberg to Nussdorf. Our last visit though was really disappointing. The service was SO unfriendly - you really got the impression they couldn't care less - there was a real risk of dehydration! A great shame and it might be a while before we return. The food was fine without being great and most importantly the heurigen wine was good. If you are walking down the Kahlenberg it is worth sticking your nose in but not worth a special journey anymore.
Visited this place two times. It did not change :) Nice taste of wine (try Gemischte Satz - white wine), same decent food.The view is tremendous! RE seating, read many reviews, many visitors are unhappy ... well try to understand ... the place is popular ... people are not very good in foreign languages ... it does not stop anyone in Italy to Spain etc. ... WHY DO YOU mention it here?Same story :) Speak german or ask you local friend ... and you get a seat :)Nice place. Friendly waiter:
1. It's really far away from the city, especially if one uses public transport. 2. The waiter told is in English that everything was busy, that we should have made a reservation and that we had no place to sit. He didn't really check when he told us that though. I saw a free table and I asked about that one in German. Then guess what! We were allowed to sit.3. Very expensive prices for the buffet food and for the little choice you had. Never again!
Well as a local i would recomend another "Heuriger" as there are many good ones in Vienna.We thought we would bring friends there and give it a try but what a dissapointment .The food was definetly not heurigen like, If you sell italian salami and greek salad.The hot food didn't look good either and got heated up as you orderd. I was more surprised of the price.. a cold platter for two 40€ and 0,70cent one slice of bread. I mean i know they need to make money, but that is way overpriced, specially for that quality..And as some here say how amazing the view is, well it's not that impressive i know way more nice heuriger with a much nicer ambiance.And on top of it as it started to rain the owner didn't let people sit in a little outside cabin, they had to move inside the building what was clearly not cosy.Overall definetly not bringing people there anymore waste of time and money.
Amidst the vineyards – picnic style tables, hearty food beautiful views and typical local wine!What a way to highlight Vienna’s best half day “Urban Hike”.Even if you don’t drink wine – this is a place favored by locals and the knowing alike.“Excellent” refers here to “authentic”!
