Unfortunately, we haven't had time to enjoy the facilities and charm of this Landhaus but we''ll be back for shure. Clean, nice place with continental breaky.
Eat local and try the home made wine - it´s not the best from the area, but it Comes with a very nice fresh Aroma (Grüner Veltliner, Muskateller White) (Blaufränkisch red)
We had time to kill in Gols and we had been advised to try the Birkenhof. The restaurant terrace is is delightful on a warm summer day. The service was attentive but discreet. Our starters and main courses were well prepared and presented. The products were fresh and not overspiced, the liver was excellent.Should we visit Gols again we will certainly eat at the Birkenhof.
We had an excellent mid week lunch here. The staff were very friendly and our waiter was great. The food was excellent - a great mix of traditional Austrian and international cuisine. Beautifully presented, good portion size and most importantly delicious. As we were driving we did not sample much wine but this is also a winery. I tried both their Chardonnay and Gelber Muskateller which were well balanced aromatic wines. We purchased some to take home. We did not stay in the hotel but the overall impression from the restaurant and reception would encourage me to consider staying the night if I were to return.
We went to this restaurant for lunch, following advice of a local person. The place looks ok at first, we were seated on the terrace. But when the food arrived, we were immersed in flies, like 20 of them flying around us, on the food, in the wine, everywhere... Just disgusting. The food was bad as well, we had fish with potatoes. Never going back.
