After a nice hike up to the top of the mountain for amazing views. Four of us had Rosti and beers on the outdoor dining area and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The weather, low crowds, service, and especially the food was great. We did not stay in the hotel.

eating was not a highlight, but in order. that you have to pay for a glass of water 2.50 chf, we found quite nicely happy. the fitness plate with pouletbrust was quantity (salat quantity) rather small, the rösti were ok. the top plate, which was not on the map, has quite beaten to book at 10.50 chf (a few apple carvings, 3 melon carvings, a kiwi, half a banana, half an orange for 3 people.) and that was not exactly the same with the praised "regional and seasonal cuisine".

At first glance everything looks really nice at the Alpina Restaurant. Charming terrace, nicely decorated and an impressing menu card. They offer a lot a wide variety of different and good sounding dishes - and everything marked, what's for instance gluten free or vegetarian. We weren't in for lunch or dinner, but just wanted to have some dessert. It seems that they only serve ice cream (not hand made, but from a large industrial production company - sadly) and nothing else. Well, fine for us.What we received was very sad looking and it was very minimal - we asked for more toppings, but never received it. The lady serving us seemed to have been overstrained and stressed. The other gentleman serving looked and behaved happier, but somehow they did not match together at all - an odd couple. Strange scenery. Bad performance and ice cream to forget.

There are not many options to eat in rigi kaltbad except this Alpine restaurant that belongs to the hotel and is a good choice to eat in a privileged environment with spectacular views. the restaurant is located next to the train station and may be a bit expensive for what they offer. the typical alpine salad with sausage and potato we ate was more than correct.

Traditional Swiss restaurant with warm atmosphere. Food is tasty and reminds home cooked. Portions are rather large! Rösti was really great as well as sausages. Prices are quite high for such place but you don't have a lot of options on Rigi mountain. Overall recommended

We visited Rigi Kulm over Easter and on our way down decided to have lunch at Kaltbad. Not having much of references we liked the friendly cozy look of the terrace of this restaurant near the train station with beautiful views of the mountains which also looked decent but not posh. So we took the only big table (we were 5) on the terrace. We were immediately greeted by the waitress who brought us the menu and nicely clarified some questions on the same. As we made up our minds regarding what we wanted to order, we realized that despite of being a very sunny day it was slightly cold for us, so we moved to the restaurant inside and took a big table there. The waiter inside came to take our order and then we explained him that my nephew is allergic to eggs, so the mixed salad should not have any eggs. He said that was no problem and went inside. Food came relatively quick. When he came with the salad he then realized that the dressing could contain egg (probably some kind of French sauce,) so he decided to take it inside and bring a new one with a different dressing (Italian.) Salad and soups (Goulash and Gersten) were very tasty and well prepared. Main dishes (Schnitzel, Rösti and Sausages) were big portions and again tasty. Although at times the 2 waiters seemed to be very busy (one was taking care of the terrace, the other one alternating inside dining room and terrace as well) you could tell they payed attention to all their customers and tables. Prices are as per Swiss standards (in our case, around 160 CHF for 5 people.)
