Nice place, simple and tasty traditional food, fresh and friendly under the trees. Highly recommend!
This is an authentic Grotto, which means a small number of dishes, all made with local produce. We ate a "spezzatino" of meat, which was delicious, and - since we don't like polenta - were offered home-made tagliatelle, which were the best we had eaten in a long time. Excellent value for money.
Saturday night... Completely closed, not a single light! Luckily our hotel had some cold foods they were able to give us.
Lunch for two consisting of one plate of cold cuts and cheese and one miniature salad along with 1/5 Liter of wine from the tap = 112 Chf. After protesting the bill came down to 83.80 Chf but the receipt claimed 4 main courses and 6 wines!? when we clearly asked for 1 tagliere, 1 plate of cheese and 1/2 liter of wine. We left in disgust not wanting to ruin an otherwise perfect day riding our motorcycle. We hear that in Ticino tourism is down substantially. We know why when there are folks around like this.
The service and food were good and the atmosphere was wonderful except for the weird mix of 90s American music playing. Nice space to sit outside for a drink before going inside for dinner.
We were in Rovio for a couple of days and one night we decided to go to this restauran for dinner.They have a terrace for eating outside and the waiter was really kind. Food was quite good, we went for the grilled horse fillet and grilled chicken and all was good and tasty. Prices are quite fair for being Switzerland and they have a nice selection of local Wines (we drank Incanto and it is quite good). As restaurant is closing at 24:00 you can even enjoy some drinks in the terrace.
We heard about this place through a friend of ours in Los Angeles. This place is the REAL DEAL. Not a tourist trap...VERY authentic. The food blew our minds! Do not miss the Polenta with melted cheese inside...put me in a food coma:)
My family enjoyed of the finest dining experiences of our lives. Grotto Conza offered a private setting up in the mountains near Lake Lugano, and the food and service were extraordinary. Every course was creative, flavorful, authentic, and a total taste delight. And after the meal we got to play bocci next to our table. If you're staying in or near Lugano, and that includes Lake Maggiori in Italy (where we were staying), I strongly recommend the lovely drive to this charming restaurant.
