Yesterday we celebrated my birthday with a small group of people at this fabulous restaurant - Buholzers and team pampered us - it was paradise on earth. The food was even better than last time (and this is hard to reach), nice atmosphere and location, perfect service with heart and soul, great selection of wines for reasonable prices .... what else can you dream off? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS PERFECT EVENING.

Rating this place with 3 dots is tough but rating it with 4 would be overstating things. To be more specific, the new owner is promising and we wish them much success but we feel there is room for improvement. The locale is of course beautiful. The service was perfect. The cuisine is clearly upper class. And in before every dish one receives a nice-looking "amuse-bouche". So what is missing?1. When you get there the tables are not set except for a spoon, a knife rest, and a candle ... a bit 'naked'. Maybe OK on weekend nights when the room hopefully fills up rapidly but we arrived there first on a weekday and only 4 tables slowly filled up, so it felt a bit like being alone in a deserted place.2. Most of the dishes pare probably fine but we ordered a fish dish and a beef dish. The former was perfect but the latter arrived at our table tepid on a tepid plate to which the maitre d' simply said "yes, that is how we do it". She did offer to warm up a the plate but then the meat would have been overcooked and my wife would have eaten alone or my fish would have been cold by the time her beef came back.3. All the "amuse-bouche" that came in between dishes look fabulous but, honestly, they are much ado about nothing, the tastes do not live up to the looks, and some of these pieces of culinary architecture proved to be quite challenging to eat without messing up the whole table ... too big for one bite but too delicate to bite without spreading bits all over the place. Keep it simpler and all is well.4. The prices are up to a Michelin star but in the end the experience was not.We would try again if we lived next to it but there are better watering holes closer to us, so it will take many positive reviews to convince us to try again.

This Restaraunt has new owners and golly what a change. We tried the old Rose Restaraunt twice and on the second occasion we left after our Aperitif as the service was unbelievably rude. The new Chef and his wife (she manages front of house) have brought stylish high quality dining to little Rüschlikon. The Restaraunt itself looked a bit bare, as if they are not quite finished decorating. The staff were very relaxed but attentive. The food itself was just really shockingly good!!!!! The food was akin to Michelin star food. If I had to be critical the food did not quite match the Restaraunt decor. But I'm not complaining.Going again tonight for a romantic anniversary dinner let's hope it is as good or better 3 weeks later.

We drove by The Rose and thought it looked like a really nice restaurant with a picturesque terrace with tables under chestnut trees. We decided to take our out of town visitors there on an evening out. The atmosphere on the terrace was just as lovely as it looked from the street. However, our evening was a disappointment. The waiter, who I think was the owner, was very arrogant and rushed on this evening. He was out of the wine we ordered and instead of offering us the menu to pick out another wine, he brought us a bottle which was his recommendation. The wine was not quite to our taste and probably not one that we would have picked out ourselves. It also arrived quite warm to the table and when we asked if it could be served colder, we received a lecture about how nobody drinks wine at the right temperature and he serves his wines at exactly the right temperature. Ok, however, I believe there is a bit of flexibility at which temperature a wine can be drunk and if our request is to have the wine colder, I think, since we are the guests, it should be met without a lecture. He could have also offered another white wine that he deemed acceptable to be served at a colder temperature...Anyway after this unfriendly exchange we had already decided not to return again. The appetizers were very good, especially the soft shell crab, but the mains, a thai curry was just average and the Wienerschnitzel a big disappointment without much seasoning. Not someplace we would recommend for good food or friendly service.

We were staying at the Hotel Belvoir and were looking for a nearby place to have some lunch (we had already eaten dinner at the Belvoir the night before, which was delicious, but fairly expensive so we didn't want to eat every meal there!). We originally set out to find Da Toni's Italian restaurant, but they were closed for the summer holidays (!) so we walked a minute or so down the road to Rose. The restaurant is within walking distance of the Rueschlikon train and bus station and is nestled in among a quiet residential area. It had several (about 5) parking spots right outside which were reserved for restaurant customers only. It was easy to spot with cheery red umbrellas on all the patio tables and was quite busy for a Thursday lunchtime. We were seated quickly on the patio and handed menus in German (ok for me, not for my husband who knows no German!) however they were happy to explain in fluent English what certain things were on the menu. They have may have even had an English menu, but we didn't ask for it.They brought out a basket of bread before our meal which we promptly demolished - bread is always good :) As well as the full menu, they had 3 'set' meals: 1 Vegetarian, 1 Meat and 1 Fish. I had the Vegetarian, which was ravioli caprese and my husband had the Meat, which was a chicken leg, roast potatoes and vegetables. The set meals also came with a choice of a soup of small salad - we both opted for a salad, which was a small lettuce based plate with a balsamic dressing - just fine for a light lunch. Our main courses were both delicious and we were both full afterwards. The total was about 50 CHF (including two bottles of water) which is entirely reasonable for Switzerland! Our waiter (who may also have been the owner/manager) gave me a rose as we paid and left - a nice touch!

We visited the restaurant on a cold Friday evening. There were no cars in the parking lot, the restaurant looked dark and empty. We concluded the restaurant was closed so we started walking away. Then a door opened and we were called in. We were the only guests the entire evening. There was no music, the candles were not lit, we only saw one waiter. We heard some noises from the kitchen so there must have been a cook as well. The menu card was extremely limited and did not resemble the menu we had seen on their website. We had tomato soup as a first course. There was no rosti for the Veal Geschnetzeltes and no Pommes Frites for the Wiener Schnitzel; the only side dish available was tagilatelle. The food was just OK.The atmosphere was horrible. It was dead silent in the restaurant. We in fact started to whisper to each other as we were too uncomfortable to talk in a normal voice. We could not wait to get out of the restaurant. But first we had to pay the bill which was ridiculously high for the unpleasant dinner we had to endure. We will not return.

We went here in mid November for my husband's birthday. He is a vegetarian. Our son was also with us and he is not vegetarian. We all loved the food; it is incredibly creative and beautifully presented. The staff were very kind and attentive. The atmosphere is gorgeous, warmly traditional Swiss. We plan to go back again. Truly a delicious experience!!
