We visited this cafe on our first day in Salzburg. Nice shelter on a very hot day with quick friendly service and nice deserts and drinks.
The cafe has a good location because of which probably attracts a lot of diners. And probably because of this, it gets away with terrible food and worse service! We had one of the cakes and it was stale - my stomach started to hurt right after eating it. We were planning to order a hot chocolate but decided against it given the terrible quality. Moreover, our server was extremely rude. I asked if the cake could be warmed slightly - he first gave me a horrible expression, then just brought the cake without warming and dumped it on the table! The bill took a long time to come. When the server finally got the bill, he told us that card payment wasn't accepted. It wasn't mentioned anywhere before! After much questioning we figured that the machines weren't working. It seemed from the server's attitude like he was doing us a favour by waiting on us. Please avoid the place at all costs! Just a short walk away you'll find much better cafes with better service.
We stopped in after a long morning of walking and sightseeing. We had a large, still water with lots of ice, a scoop of ice cream and a strudel to refresh and re-energize us! Great wait staff and food but don't wait to be seated. Seat yourself under their large umbrellas and get out of the sun!
We were in Salzburg in December so it was quite cold, -4 degrees I think. We were waiting for the 6pm ringing of the Glockenspiel and stopped here for a sit down and a coffee. The coffee was quite good. We didn't eat any food though. The toilets are clean but you have to pay. The cafe is diagonally across from the Glockenspiel so if you were there in any other season you could sit outside and watch the world go by while you waited for the chimes.
We sat outside on a glorious spring day and enjoyed some wurst and a beer with friends. A perfect way to enjoy lunch. Overall, we had a great experience. The food and service were both very good and prices reasonable. The gelato stand right next door is an added bonus.
We had breakfast and lunch here during our stay in Salzburg and on both occasions the service was excellent, with each of the friendly staff. The food was also delicious for both meals at a reasonable price. The cafe is in a perfect location on mozartplatz and provides a great spot to view the passing crowd
Stopped for breakfast during a visit to Salzburg, service was good and efficient, food was nice and didn't disappoint, me and my partner both really enjoyed the breakfast we ordered. A good little spot to stop by and also reasonable prices. Would return!
And that's the best there is to say about it. You know what you're in for when you sit down for a coffee in one of the prime city centre spots, and we got what we deserved - decent but not exceptional drinks at high prices, since one is paying for the location. A strange quirk is that if you want to drink Pils it can only be bought in 33 cl glasses whereas dark beer can only be had in 50cl servings. The waiter was of the by now usual Salzburg type - efficient but lacking charm. (There are exceptions - try the Sacher Hotel cafe).
