Stopped here for lunch after practise. Though there are many other restaurants along the lake, I thought I would support the restaurant since they are a bit out of the way and had made efforts to decorate nicely. Also last year, I had a good experience with their weekday lunch menu.Perhaps they now have a new cook or it was the weekend and the cook was on holiday. The summer salad came smothered in thousand island dressing and when I asked if its homemade was told the cook made it himself with ketchup. Now, salad is supposed to be a healthy low fat/sugar choice...I said I would prefer to have salad with no dressing, just olive oil & vinegar. She took salad back, then for the next 10 minutes there were sounds of huge crashings from kitchen - doors & drawers slammed, utensils banged on counters, worthy of the sound effects for a TV cartoon!New salad appeared, just some mixed leaves, 1 radish sliced, 1 boiled egg sliced and 4 pieces of mushroom. Big 1 liter bottle of olive oil & bottle of balsamic vinegar was placed on table. No salt or pepper but by this time I had given up on them. Lady at table behind me, who came later ordered the summer salad as well. She too sent it back & told waitress it had too much dressing & she would prefer to have dressing seperately. So it wasn't just me being difficult!Normally, the serving staff should offer a choice of salad dressing and bring it seperately in a jug or bowl. The cook should know better than assume everyone likes ketchup on their salad and liberally pour it on.Good for weekday visit when they offer the good value 3 course lunch menu. Otherwise it is not a dining experience to enjoy.
