fantastic hospitality and fantastic food. we come back when we are safe here! Eat and service was excellent.
I talked to a colleague here. we couldn't decide what to order so kostas took care of this detail himself! After everyone had a huge classic giros, we almost couldn't fit through the door on the way out. I don't have much experience. with the Greek cuisine, but that was just delicious!
very nice Greek eating, authentic and served in generous portions. good service. Lost how is a real character and fun to chat with. beautiful wines from Greece to add the menu.
kostas der grieche is the perfect Greek restaurant in st gallen! the atmosphere is very familiar and entertaining, the service is good and friendly and especially eating is great! I personally love the Gyros plate here, but I really plan to try new...wind from the menu. I will definitely come back and I recommend it to all Greek food lovers!
The restaurant is well located and has a nice atmosphere.However, my dish was very heavy and greasy. We went there as a group, and at the end the price was split evenly between everybody despite great differences between the meals we chose. The owner talked...a lot.
Having eaten Greek food in over 10 countries i'd say Kostas' is the best outside Greece. Traditional pork gyros with authentic flavours. The classic souvlaki had large pieces of fillet cooked to perfection. I was given a sample of the gyros, (helps to speak Greek...to Stavros the owner) and it reminded me of the kontosouvli I used to have in Athens, Greece 15 years ago. When I come back to Switzerland I shall definitely be back with friends.
Great service, but sadly the prices for standard food overpriced, even by Swiss standards. The gyros did not give me a taste of Greece as advertised as it contained only salty meat and watery tzatziki and 2 bits of sliced tomato. A 1/2 litre of...Malamatina retsina was a ridiculous price. I've been going to Greece for over 30 years and I was thoroughly disappointed.
Kostas der Grieche is not only a restaurant, it's an atmosphere, a family, an experience. When I came to St.Gallen in 2001 the restaurant was 100 meters further down the street. Kostas was behind his grill and the food was delicious. than 14 years...later, Kostas is often at the restaurant, but it is his son in the kitchen. The setting has slightly changed, but the atmosphere is the same. What about the food you may ask? Simply authentic and good. Kostas der Grieche is a restaurant that makes you feel in Greece and at home at the same time, quite a unique feature.
