very good pizza - a big plus is that Guzzi also makes gluten-free pizza ! (should be ordered one day ahead but still managed to get one on the day itself. Well done for the great service.

we were tired after a long drive and decided to eat our evening meal at Taverna da Guzzi. So glad we did. We ordered the garlic soup which was out of this world. The best I have ever tasted and I love garlic. Also ordered...More

Very nice little restaurant which was easy walking distance from our apartment. Staff were very friendly, and the pizzas excellent, made more special by the fact that we could see them being made and cooked in the pizza oven. Nice that it was well used by locals.

Nice to find this pizzeria/restaurant where a good Italian pizza can warm you up. Only wrong note was that somebody was allowed to smoke inside...

I decided to try the Taverna da Guzzi because they had Thursdays special pizza-kebab. I was told they were doing it for the very last time. Judging from the take-out orders for this pizza, it should have been quite popular. Anyway, the place was nice and bright (thought it is located in the so called -1 floor), and spacious in fact, because the tables were arranged in such an order that you did not have to rub another person's back with your chair. The waitress was attentive and spoke English good (though menu was in German only), so no troble in ordering what I really wanted. As someone mentioned already, the owner was around all the time talking with other gueasts and occasionally asking us if everything was ok. It really was. Pizza-kebab duo is quite out of the ordinary and it shows some creative spirit. Nontheless, the crust was hand-tossed just before our eyes and then baked in a proper stone-brick oven. It was thin, a bit elastic and not too tosted. It was just right and if you can make the most importat part of pizza right, you will do good on other ingredients as well. So, I guess that other regular pizzas should be even better than the one I have tried if you are not so much in the exotics. Finally, I would say that Tverna da Guzzi is as good as it could get in a small place like Birgitz.

Following previous Tripadvisor reviews we went for a Sunday Pizza to this restaurant and booked a table in advance. We were greeted by the owner and welcomed in to a very clean and tidy restaurant. The owner seems to know most of his local guests on first name basis. The menu has a classic variety of pizza and pasta dishes as well as a small wine menu. As we were unsure about our wine selection our waitress offered us to try the wine before we ordered. There are not too many places we've been to over the years that offer this service. Considering the pizza was made in a stone oven the pizza was nice but not amazing as it was very very thin indeed. Wine was great, tap water was on the table. Mixed salad was very good with fresh ingrediants. Pricing was average resulting in a good meal and great value. Location is mid town with easy parking available during the evening. We will be back again to try out other items on the menu.

We went there twice because we really liked the pizzas. However, i could say that the atmosphere created by the staff was not pleasant at all. Our waiter was chewing gum and serving like he was at home, the waitress was smoking (when she could) behind the bar, and in general the staff was having small bites of something when being close to the kitchen. The Pizzeria is very beautiful with nice decoration and light colors to calm the eyes. The pizza was really good. Thin, italian style made in front of you in an open kitchen. The mixed salad was very tasty as well, however, the waiter (Ralph) did not bring us plates to share it and we ended up eating and holding the paper napkins so that we wouldn't mess up the table. Nor did he bring us bread like he did to the other 2 tables that were eating at the same time with us and seemed to be native people. The Picata Milanese we ordered came out with turkey meat, which is not as it is described in the menu (normally it comes out with veal or pork). In general, in my opinion, if you want to eat nice italian PIZZA, it is a very good choice, however, you have to be very patient because they seem to dislike tourists - i say that because we could tell that they paid more attention to the other 2 tables.
