A good option for lunch or for a small break. The location is very nice, in Stadpark. The food is typically French and prices are ok. Maybe sometimes they are not so well organized and the menu is not so various, but it worth a visit. Tasty espresso!
We visited this cafe on a number of occasions, during our visit to Vienna in July 17.It is located just inside the Stadtpark from the Johannesgasse entrance. There is inside & outside seating as required, the restaurant is wheelchair friendly.The staff are lovely & welcoming, we were seated quickly, service was excellent. The menu has a nice range of food including mussels & other seafood. We chose the steaks, they were cooked exactly as we requested, the portions were large & the taste was probably the best we have tasted in a long time. A good range of drinks are available & everything is reasonable priced.This restaurant gets very busy at times, especially in the evening its best to book or go early, the staff will do their best to accommodate you.
Wir sind vom Café Francais im 9.Bezirk begeistert, daher war die Freude groß, dass es nun auch einen Ableger davon im Stadtpark gibt. Mein Geburtstag war der Anlass für den Besuch und wir freuten uns auf den Abend gemeinsam mit Freunden.Leider wurden unsere Erwartungen nicht erfüllt. Unser Besuch zusammengefasst:Sehr schöne Location, gutes Essen (sehr schön angerichtet), schlecht organisierte Service-Crew.Hier die Details dazu:Wir mussten dem Service fast schon nachlaufen, um Wein zu bestellen.Offensichtlich war der Kollege, der die Bestellung aufnahm nicht befugt dazu. Leider hat er uns dies nicht mitgeteilt, die Bestellung aber auch nicht weitergeleitet oder einen Kollegen informiert, dass wir bestellen möchten.Nachdem wir die Bestellung beim "richtigen" Herrn aufgegeben hatten, kam die Flasche schlecht gekühlt. Die richtige Trinktemperatur war erst nach einiger Kühlzeit im Eiswasser am Tisch erreicht. Gleiches Prozedere bei der zweiten Flasche. Wasser zum Wein wurde nicht gebracht und es wurde auch nicht hinterfragt ob wir gerne eines hätten (bei 30 Grad). Das Mineralwasser mussten wir mehrmals bestellen und kam dann auch 10 Min später.Creme Brulee wäre der Dessertwunsch gewesen. Auf der Glaswand des Lokales wurde das Gericht angepriesen. "Creme Brulee gibt's nicht, informierte uns der Kellner. "Die Desserts an der Glaswand sind noch von der Veranstaltung von gestern."Wir entschieden uns für ein anderes Dessert. Dieses wurde flott serviert. Leider ohne Besteck. Dieses mussten wir wieder extra bestellen.Auffällig war auch das Bestreben des Sevicepersonals so rasch wie möglich abzuservieren. Dh es wurde nicht gewartet bis alle am Tisch mit dem Essen fertig waren. Sobald das Besteck auf einem fast leeren Teller lag, wurde dieser abserviert, auch wenn man die Gabel noch in der Hand hielt. :-(Schade ist, dass ein schlechter Gesamteindruck bleibt, obwohl die Küche sehr gut ist und die Speisen ausgezeichnet schmecken und auch angerichtet sind.
Last night, I tried the Stadtpark branch of Café Francais and I actually found it much nicer than their original branch in the 9th district. The menu seems pretty similar if not exactly the same and they are currently offering nice summer drinks (I can recommend the rosé pom). Nice waiters and prompt service. The filling of my crepe Normandie was a bit too bland and liquidy for my taste, but it was o.k. Charming place for summer: would come back.
Der Burger war noch halb roh, die Pommes Frites kalt und das Heineken Bier leider überhaupt nicht kalt. Keinen zweiten Besuch wert.
Arrived in Vienna Monday. Staying at Hilton. Cafe Francais is a few minutes walk through a beautiful park. Ideal for a light lunch or relaxing drink after site seeing.You could always do what I did, which was both !Great food. Great drinks, best thing is the staff and service. Faultless !Setting wise, it's centre of town, but surrounded by trees, a beautiful bridge, and next to a concert hall. They have a great music list, but you can also hear the orchestra in the park playing classical music, in between tracks. You'd be mad to miss it !!!Vienna is on my list of places to visit again, several reasons. Cafe Francais, the Hilton Hotel, and also it's absolutely beautiful !
We went there to get something to eat and drink. Waiter gave us table and menu, but that was it. They served other tables, even the ones who came after us. After waiting for a while we decided to leave and have lunch in other location.
