This restaurant is located at the edge of the Old Danube. It has a large beer-garden as well as indoor tables. It is a bit out of the way, but a good excuse for a stroll along the river.Despite the fact that the place was crowded, the service was ok.
Best ribs in Vienna and really nice view on river. I has been a family destination for quite a while now. And after lunch there are best ice marillen knoedls!
I stopped by with an Austrian friend for dinner. The food was mediocre, overpriced and the service was terrible. They charged us for a glass of tap water without letting us know first. Knowing there are so many great restaurants in Vienna, I highly recommend having a wonderful evening somewhere else.
The Selbstverständlich has been a place for my family's gatherings for a couple of decades – it features a large beer garden by the Old Danube lake, earthy Viennese cuisine (including healthy options) and swift and efficient service all conducive to creating to a positive environment.You won't find any tourists there, since it is rather out of the way (and mistagged alongside other establishments on TripAdvisor – this restaurant is not in 'Gerasdorf bei Wien' but in the 22nd district.)
The six of us enjoyed our Sunday Breakfast Buffet (8-11am). The selection, quality, atmosphere, service and value were Very Good. The staff was a bit hectic and made us feel rushed. The location is Excellent.
This is a great location when the summer comes. You can enjoy a swim in the alte donau and then step into this restaurant. I did not have any expectation but it was surprisingly good. Service was fast, waiter was friendly and the food pretty okay. My only complaint is that the salad was floating on water, which I had to drain. Otherwise the kids enjoy the chicken wings and schnitzel.
Just beside the water it is escpecially in summer a place worth visiting. If the weather is fine, it can be combined with a wonderful 20 min walk starting at U1 Alte Donau, or starting at U2 Donaustadtbrücke.The restaurant is normally quite full but still the service is fine and the food is good.My personal favorite is the "Selbstverständlich-Toast".Normally it is better to make a reservation, as many people like to spend a lovely summertime there. :)Hope you enjoy as well! I visited Selbstverstandlich with a group of 20+ business people for late afternoon drinks and dinner. I've been to Vienna several times and it's always helpful to have a local to show you the best places to go. What a great place, beers in the afternoon sun, great service, nice food, good company. It is obvious from how busy Selbstverstandlich is that it's popular with the locals. Get a table outside and watch the cyclists, dog walkers and runners go past, nice way to spend the late afternoon sun.
