What a surprise! In the middle of nowwhere this gem of a restaurant! We went there as a party of four for my fiftieth birthday and had dinner in the Badstube. The food is of outstanding quality, worth every Gault Millau point and more! I had the Luma veal and have never tasted such tender and tasty veal before. The waitress seemed a bit stressed out and could have smiled more: no reason to be stressed out with such excellent food AND service! I will go there again for special occasions. A place of a certain understatement with excellent quality of food and service.
We dined in the gourmet part of Restaurant Sternen in Wangen/Dübendorf, the Badstube on a lovely summer evening. The setting is beautiful, and we were a bit out of earshot of a fairly loud rock band that played in the front of the restaurant. Decor, setting, etc. very promising. There are not too many choices on the menu, but it sounded appealing. Their wine list is large, and they have many good bottles from Switzerland that are relatively inexpensive.The food was only OK. The "amuse bouche" in our opinion was the best part of the meal. The main courses were all too salty, and it took forever for the waitress to bring out the food - maybe the event in the front kept their kitchen crew too busy? In any case, the place could do really well if they only improved on a couple of small aspects.
This was our second visit to the Badstube plus over the years we have eaten on numerous occasions in the Gaststube and never have we been disappointed. The Badstube is more formal and offers impressive plus inventive fine dining that has won it a Michelin star. Worth noting are the prices, which are indeed moderate. The Gaststube in more informal with straight-forward traditional favourites. However, all dishes are well prepared, always good and also very reasonably priced.Expect professional
my partner, my daughter and i went to the sternen for lunch. the restaurant was quite busy. the service was fast and efficient and friendly. we ordered three different menus, and each of us was satisfied, and enjoyed our meals which were very well presented on hot plates. the tables and chairs were a little too close to each other for our liking, no other critisism. highly recommendable, we shall go again ...
I recently had a business dinner at this restaurant. I didn't know it before and I was positively surprised by the great quality of food and the friendly service. The restaurant has a "gourmet section" and a regular restaurant. We were in the regular restaurant and enjoyed a very good local meat dish. The selection of wines is fantastic; they have various local wines listed which I have never seen in other restaurants. And the restaurant itself is in the old part of the village, so it is also a very unique place to go to. I will sure go back again!
We have been in this restaurant (in the "gourmet restaurant" about a dozen times and it had a consistent good quality. Very fine menus, interesting compositions, great flavours, nicely presented at quite moderate prices. A very special - and pleasant - custom in this restaurant: an automatic supplement, not only of the side dish, but of the meat or fish, too, almost another main course...Once there was a little flaw: something was too salty, it was immediately replaced with a new dish, and the espressos went on the house ... great conflict management!
