Well, what can you say? That was simply perfect. So, one of my staff is, and I kid you not, allergic to sugar. Which makes feeding him incredibly hard. Not so in the Ofenloch. The staff took care of everything, including, but not limited to, a bottle of wine that did not kill him. Stellar!Whilst on topic, the food was stellar, too. Even by Viennese standards. Which are high, even by Munich (our home location) standards. Schnitzel, salads, desserts - all of it was very, very good. Is this Vienna's best restaurant? No, it is not. But given its price-performance ratio, the friendliness and competence of its staff, and its extremely nice location, it well deserves five stars. Highly recommended. Try the Marillenknödel!

Mangiato veramente bene, piatti rivisitati in maniera eccelsa.

The neighborhood of this restaurant is wonderful, in a little street around Am Hof, there is a very nice terrace, and the food is excellent. Inside was all dark wook and very cosy. But best of all, this was our first good service in Vienna: courteous, with a smile, not as we were disturbing the waiters from some incredibly secret task we had no relation with. We had the pike as a light supper, and it was delicious and well served. The Austrian white wine recommended by our waiter was very good as well. In addition, because this is a reconnaissance trip for my disabled mother, this was the first restaurant with ground floor toilets - another plus in the old city. Despite the storm raging outside, this proved a very rewarding evening, and did much to make us feel welcome in Vienna.
