After an evening stroll around the old town centre we stumbled upon this restaurant located in a beautiful ancient square overlooked by the stunning Yverdon-les-Bains Castle. Even though it was a very busy warm evening we were quickly seated and served. The food swiftly arrived, was wonderfully present and above all was very tasty indeed. Perfect atmosphere in a scenic location. We will definitely be returning someday.
Our group ordered three entrecotes of different sizes and cuisson, but they all came exactly same. Both size and cuisson.
we had dinner on the terrace during one of the free concerts in the town and had a very nice dinner. My husband had the slow cooked pork in a beautiful creamy sauce with fries and vegetables and I had the king prawns risotto which was beautifully cooked (fresh) and creamy. the staff were very friendly and efficient (it was very busy due to the concert)
We went to the Restaurant de la Place to have a quick dinner on a Sunday. The restaurant was one of the few open and though we arrived before they opened the kitchen the waitress was very friendly and gave us the menu. She was also open for suggestions ans knew the dishes well. After ordering the food arrived quite fast ans was good. We had two different Tarte Flambee, which were both good. With a Tarte you will have had enough. Price is fair for the location
we had breakfast in the restaurant, just a croissant, that was nice and drinks. service was fast and friendly and we enjoyed sitting with locals.
there is a series of restaurants with seating outdoors on a side of the ortes pestalozzi, one of the most beautiful places of Switzerland. the 'restaurant de la place' is about the middle of them all. on a sunny day in the summer you have to feel happy to grab a chair and a table, as many people want to enjoy the atmosphere here of the traffic-free large space, surrounded by a castle, a church and generally with a homogeneous architecture. although very busy, service from a young waiter was fast and friendly. they had a 'menus du jour' card on the display of which I brought the 'salade paysanne', which is a great part of 'salade melée, sauce italienne, lardons, croutons, oeuf dur et fromage'. with him I had an arkina sparkling water that was originally produced in yverdon, but now in the grisons, although still its name. I was also satisfied with the espresso at the end, with coffee from the excellent roasting chicco d 'oro in tessin. it came with a 'sablé', a short brot, by wernli.
this restaurant is located in the center of yverdon, with a terrace in the old town place pestalozzi. we had a good lunch which was well served with very good portions and attentive servers.
as tourist in summer this seems to be the best place to eat. the menu is probably designed for such customers and there was nothing to complain in this view, nothing outstanding, nothing mediocre. I enjoyed my simple meal with view of the old buildings on the square outside at night, on the art and wise of the service was good.
