great alternative place to check and get away from zürich city. the food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and attentive. make sure to take the look and cool with a cold beer, they have many possibilities.
location on the lake and with view of the alps, eating is ok and they have limited possibilities, but the atmosphere of the place will compensate.
this place (red factory) was actually occupied by the jugend and then converted into the restaurant. the location is good and it's okay to eat. we tried the fish and the bun and certainly the appenzeller beer and the service was great.
Multicultural, alternative, ex-squatter place with the restaurant, theatre, concerts and also two kindergardens on the area. The food is mostly organic and well done for this price at the lake of Zurich. Better you check out on their website what`s going on cause sometimes...it is pretty crowded about some events at the Rote Fabrik. The brunch on the weekend is also famous for families in the summertime it can takes a while till you get a Rösti with bacon, cheese and egg. But we love it there anyway
Zurich is well known to be expensive..but this is the first time in years that I am shocked. The place is dirty, the staff come to your table basically pushing you to order food... ok... you must pay cash in advance... if you want...a drink you have to stand up in line for at least minutes at the bar, cause the staff do not take orders for drinks. We ordered tiropita francs each. No words...after minutes of waiting this arrived..look at the picture. You can eat better in any autogrill or tankstelle... Never again, thieves!!
When thinking of Zurich you're excepting, respectively you're looking for a mix of an international atmosphere paired with the Swiss countenance and service oriented mindset... Specially during the summer time Zurich is inviting its guests to rest in one of their restaurants next to the...lake, mostly expensive (due to the location) and trendy. The Ziegel oh Lac was a location I was planning to test without any prejudice as it's located in an area which is known for socialists, hippies and people with an alternative mindset. I visited the restaurant with my dog and was searching for a suitable corner to sit with my dog and my guest we even didn't sit down and were already alluded that the staff needs to have access everywhere and that the dog might disturb their service... What service? If you wish to have a drink, you need to leave your place and go to the bar inside, as they are not serving drinks only food. Going to the bar might have been a problem so she answered that we can help ourselves with water, which is for free outside. We asked for water for the dog no problem.. we got a bowl but water we had to get ourselves... We ordered finally food... a Greek salad... A green salad and spaghetti bolognese. Those people have never been to Greece nor Italy! The picture of the salad was really poor for the money you pay! The food was worse than mediocre and wine tasted like from the tetra pack. This was the first and last time I visited this place and would not recommend it to anyone, specially not to tourists as Zurich has so many good, high-quality and low-cost restaurants.
Very nice location along the Zurich lake, with the view on the white mountain peaks in the background. Artistic atmosphere. Big terrace and a lot of space inside. The food is excellent. I recommend the brunch menu. .
