this was a very unique goal earlier, but since it was taken over a few years ago, it has gradually gone downhill. the service personnel, in particular the female maitre d, is unfriendly and inefficient. we called for drinks today. we had. to ask for our order several doses and waited more than minutes for our bill. it is a great shame that such a great situation of indifferent and arrogant service is undermined.
we decided to give this place an attempt as we were in the opposite. the personal has no idea of customer service at all! the first waiter said he couldn't accept orders, but he said the waitress we waited for the service. she served us all so we could get out. in the current economic climate with tourism, places like these can easily be out of business and earned so that they treat their customers like them. don't eat here!
When we arrived, I had great hopes, so the intention was amazing, but I was disappointed. the waiter could not speak German. I ordered the chicken wings à la discrétion they were stomach-curning. do not order the chicken wings I warned them.
for a visitor in Switzerland, food prices often seem high, but we were shocked to the trips here. great location and view. skip eating and order a drink and enjoy the environment.
This little place is in a fantastic location like so many others along the lake. Unfortunately they have a small kitchen and therefore small selection of items in the menu. Would be nice to have pies or cakes with coffee in the afternoons but unfortunately...not the case. We would certainly come more often if the selection was greater . Service is ok and staff is friendly.
One of the few places to eat that are right on the water's edge of Lake Zurich. The bistro is not much more than a kiosk with tables and chairs arranged along the lake. A great place for a drink or to have something small...to eat. There are chandeliers strung between the trees which is a nice touch once the sun sets. But during the long balmy summer days, the trees also deliver lots of welcome shade. The menu is small, the prices moderate, especially for a lakeside location and there is none of the pretentious atmosphere found in some of the other lakeside restaurants (Unterer Mönchhof being the worst Apart from the grill menu, there is a daily changing special, a selection of snacks and an ice cream bar. Great place for a coffee break during the day or a drink in the evening watching the boats on the lake come and go. Next to the bistro is a small public park as well as the dock where the Lake Zurich boats make a stop on their round trips. There were always tables available, even on the nicest days. This is good news as the bistro does not take reservations.
To find a place to eat right on the water is not easy on the golden coast So living nearby this is a great addition to all the other overpriced options. It's a simple style, but to add a special tweeze there are antic chandelier...hanging in the trees. Summer there was a good offer with a nice veriety of international dishes well adapted to the season. This year the weather was bad and so it took me a while to come back. It was still the same beautiful athmospere and nice service. But what had changed is the menue...somehow the concept goes now traditional Swiss style with Fondue and other tradional, rather heavy dishes that one prefers to eat in fall and winter season. Sure the weather was not the best this season, but would still prefere to have some light summer dishes on the menue when eating outdor next to the lake. In anyway the surounding is perfect and I will be back.
We should try this bistro during the months of June, July, and August because the lake of Zurich is most beautiful in summer. This bistro/restaurant is located right at the ship landing of Männedorf and during the sunny season the tables are extended to the...water front and the passengers on the ships are staring at us enviously waving their hands at us. The building used to be a waiting shelter of the ship station but it is now nicely renovated into an elegant café-bistro. On the menu card there are only several dishes, most of which are Swiss specialities such as fondues and lake fish but the selection of wines and beers are not bad as the local Männedorfers love to come here for a glass of wine or a pint of beer and read their newspapers, needless to say, also enjoying coffee. They also serve famous Mövenpick ice creams. In winter this place is well isolated by transparent walls so that we can enjoy winter landscape of the lake of Zurich. This restaurant accepts cash only.
