We ordered one Tagesmenu (starter of soup or salad, plus main course) and had a very good salad with a tangy dressing followed by a fish casserole which was a mix of salmon, prawns and white fish with potatoes in a light but tasty, creamy sauce. At CHF18 we thought it was great value; I think it is available until 2pm everyday. We also ordered a main course of Hackbraten which was 2 generous slices of a very savoury meatloaf, in a rich gravy, with potatoes and vegetables - I think it was about CHF25 and we thought it was also good value. Overall for the money we thought this was the best food we had in a restaurant in Switzerland - it was lovely to find somewhere doing food which is really tasty and light and not all about cheese.
We had lunch here during a drive through the area.The outside facade hides what is a well-designed restaurant inside.We were give a menu when we sat down however it was only in German, but we were able to determine that there was a vegetarian pasta dish available.The meal arrived piping hot about 15 minutes later and while we found it very tasty it was a little salty for our palate.The macchiato coffee that we had after the meal was well made.
We went to CHEZ MARCO (Brasserie zur Simme) for lunch and were v. pleasantly surprised by the cosy interior, the number of tables occupied at 12.05 and the efficient service. We both had the Tagesteller (menu of the moment which is served only for lunch under the header: You can get it as long as we have it.) The menu is served with either a soup or a salad. With the horrible weather we were happy with a tasty, nicely seasoned patato soup and a fabulous goulash with baked patatoes
A perfect diner with friends. Ambience, the quality of food together with a friendly qualified service makes this restaurant a very good choice. Modern and transparent where cook Marco makes a social round with the guests.
Found this restaurant as we were walking around Zweisimmen, it is not too far from the train station. It is on a pretty tree lined street filled with shops. They have a small terrace outside and the restaurant has two levels inside, We sat on the terrace since it was such nice weather. We had Sunday lunch here, they had a choice of two specials of the day, which we liked the look of so we didn't bother with the menu. They do have a very good menu with lots of choice of salad, sandwiches or hot meals. The special were CHF 18.00 each which for Switzerland is average, it included a starter of soup or salad. My husband chose the Curry soup and I chose the salad. Both well made. My salad came decorated with a few edible flowers which was a nice touch and a french dressing. For the entree we had Pork Schnitzel with pasta shells and mediterranean vegetables. It had a light wine sauce, everything was nicely seasoned and the pasta shells were buttered. Overall an excellent meal for the price. My husband had Beer and I had a soft drink. It is actually cheaper to have a beer so I will remember that for next time ! They had wine also. There were a number of people eating there some locals as well as tourists like ourselves. The staff are very polite and helpful. After we had coffees and a Toblerone Mousse dessert which was very nicely presented with a dish of vanilla icecream on the side as well as a cube of fudge and some almonds that had a sweet crunchy coating topped with a physalis fruit. Loved it. The Desserts were quite expensive but there were lots of other options which might have been cheaper. Quite a few people seemed to be enjoying their tarts. All in all I recommend.
