Pizzeria Ristorante Molino

Obstgartenstrasse 5, 8910 Affoltern am Albis, Switzerland

Staying in nearby hotel to Pizzeria Molina I was advised by hotel staff that it is definitively the best place in this little town to eat and N 1 rating on trip advisor looked promising , so as photos ....Reality was quite different . First of all - extremely slow service when you need something . This Pizzeria was not even half full when I came, the have been plenty of smoking staff going back and forward but they all hardly paying much of attention . I took a table on the outside terrasse. Rockhard plastic chairs had nothing soft on them to make sitting at least a bit comfortable. Shaky unstable table And so as the next table that I over too ... After intensive waving of my hand finally got attention and a menu in German . Waiter was. It speaking more then 2 words of English either . Asked for menu in English and got a second menu in German .. realized it is hopeless . Checked menu and was impressed ... Basic risottos 25-40 CHF, opened wine by glass 6 to 9 CHF, schnitzel 40+ CHF that all in a very basic Pizzeria in a tinny town in the middle of nowhere ... Ordered "best" house red from Ticino by glass 9 x 3 = 27 CHF and mushroom risotto . Wine arrived in 15 minutes and tasting clearly demonstrated it is one of the "premium" wines which are sold for 20 CHF a carton of 6 bottles .. absolutely basic table wine worth not more hen half the price charged . Risotto arrived about 10 minutes latter - and it was the fastest risotto delivers I ever experienced in my life ... Means rice was more less ready , they added canned mushrooms, cooked for 10 minutes and "Vualya" 25 CHF mushroom risotto is ready. I have seen a lot of nice pictures of food presentation on Molina web site - my mushroom risotto of midium - small size arrived on ordinary and , by the way , cold plate and looked just a breakfast portion of porridge ... tasted average ... Motorest Restourant kind of quality can be a benchmark , though I can say I had better and much cheaper risottos in motorests... Then I had to wave my hand again to get a card look for the desert ... Have decided to spoil myself with Molino "speciality " Hot chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream on he side ( 12 CHF ) waiter showed to me that it take minimum 15 minutes to make it ... I had time ... Dessert arrived in about 5 minutes . The was an attempt to present it nicely this time ... but not striking impressive ... Cake was barely warm, Spoon of Swiss vanilla ice-cream was perfect but both ice cream and cake looked that they originated in some kind of supermarket ... We buy packed of such "chocolate " cakes frozen in supermarket for our home - the one I got definitively belonged to same family and it had absolutely standard basic taste / appearance and size .... it hardly was really done in Molino by creative cook ....So by all means that culinary delight was not worth 12 CHF ...Asked at the end if been an "Italian " a like Restourant they give any small complement drink at the end like maybe small Limoncello - was told YES and got a "complement size" shot of Limoncello ( few drops like ) and 7 CHF more to pay for it ... smell / taste was of something pure Chemical ... cheap grapper in the base - artificial lemon arromas ....A total bill of almost 80 CHF at the end ....If you will happen to be anywhere around this place - better go to next door ground floor cafe at Holiday Inn . Food will be not sophisticated - but better and significantly cheaper . A 6 CHF / glass red Spanish wine in Holiday inn is also by far better
