Au Vieux Moulin

the price (58 euros), modicum for a tasting menu of the region, and the flat foie gras escalopes are all that saves the old mill. the selection of wines at the glass of the restaurant is very limited and included the only glass of positively bad wine that I had for nearly two weeks of hiking in the area. The dishes were incoherent - the foie gras was pretty good, the risotto was correct but not memorable and the calf was noticeably weak. In particular, the service was broken and generally poor, apparently because of inexperience. there did not seem to be dedicated servers for an individual table, but rather all service staff working on an ad hoc basis for all tables, which means that the overall service was often inattentive. a particular server, apparently the youngest, pulled several dishes without explaining what they were and quickly fled. Since one was a fly amuse that had not been explained before and another was an unknown substitute for a menu item that did not correspond to a food restriction, I had to guess. the oldest member, who might have been the owner or manager, was busy discussing with friends at another table for much of the evening. At the old mill is worth the detour if you stay at the adjoining hotel or if other options are closed for the evening, but otherwise it is missed without regret.

Even if it was our least favorite culinary experience in eight nights in the region, it is always worth going because it had the best setting. As its name suggests, it is in a restored old mill that still has a running water wheel. Even if you have to come twice, make sure to arrive before sunset so that you can take photos outside. the building seems surrounded by coves and groceries of mills and the landscaped layout is magnificent. food was not bad, it was simply not up to what we lived elsewhere. I got the duck magret that was a little hard and dry. My wife had the trout, which she described as agreeing. desserts were not bad either, but not as creative or attractive as what we had seen in other restaurants. They didn't seem to have done so much effort. Service was good, no problems. so you can have a good meal here, and the landscape is spectacular, so my average rating is 4 stars,

It was a real disappointment - the frame could not have been more charming and quiet, but the kitchen, the wine map and the service were all completely dull. an attempt to use innovative ingredients - bok choy - has resulted in something as appetizing as you would find in an express panda. and classic dishes were dull and indistinct. It would be a great place to taste a good glass of wine... if the wine map was interesting, which unfortunately is not. to aggravate all the experience, it was terribly expensive, especially given the lazy and inattentive service. the restaurant has a long way to go so that its culinary experience catches up with its very special and enchanting setting.

We came here for dinner the other night, on the basis of the good reviews of tripadvisor. what we found was a warm welcome for a family without reservation (we could sit inside but not near the stream because these tables had been booked), a fantastic cuisine, nicely presented at reasonable prices (but not cheap) - dinner for 2 adults and 2 children menus with half bottle of wine cost 170 €. is worth the detour for a special meal.

an excellent traditional restaurant with outdoor terrace overlooking a beautiful quiet park with stream. food and service were of first order for an unstarted establishment and our only regret was that the evening we had dinner, an American family treated him like a mcdonald's with noisy children who were constantly running and a husband leaving to smoke between classes. It's not the fault of the restaurant, just our bad luck.
