the Gass17 is a must for every gourmet lover and tourism fanatic! the reception is warm, very friendly and courteous. the menue is presented on a wooden board, the prices I.o and the food a pleasure.Perfecter service and it just does everything.
Maybe the best table in Appenzell. A beautiful kitchen served by an efficient and smiling staff, in a trendy setting that slices with the décor a little postcard to the old of other restaurants in the city. grilled meat with wood fire, beef tartar, crunchy fries, memorable salad sauce, than happiness. still a bastion that veganistic snippets will not take.
We loved that our first question to our waitress upon sitting down to an outdoor table resulted in an English language menu--so easy. The hamburger was interesting--it tasted less like a standard American hamburger and more like meatloaf on a fantastic ciabetta bun. The fries were amazing. Our group also ate several ham and cheese paninis. The chocolate milk was very good and our other drinks were wonderful after several hours climbing on Ebenalp. The people watching was wonderful on a sunny afternoon.
we have spent two wonderful days in and around appenzell. we were a bit amazed that despite holidays, when many tourists come to this great opposite, some restaurants had business holidays. to the happiness not the gass 17. it is modern and the map with regional flair is very international. that didn't have to be compelling for us, but if it tastes the better. the big plus was the very nice but also competent service. the cheffe de service has given with a lot of charm and expertise the guests and also valuable hiking tips. we felt very comfortable and as many restaurants had closed on the second night, we have just returned.
surprising map (also with regional orientated; for example rural or cordon bleu from the grill with mostbröckli and appenzellerkäse), decorative and special dish, tasty diners. unmatched is the buurekotelett, with pommes allumettes and gemüsetöpfli. kundschaft is mixed at midday: tourist and hired from nearby shops / shops.
We had a club chicken and risotto on their outdoor space, which is in a small square and loved it. Great place to sip an Appenzell beer and people watch too!
eating was top, italian but also good-bourgeois. the locality is very well maintained, clean and modern (appenzell untypical).We were with a group in the "gasse 17", waiting for about 15 minutes for the service for drinks and about another 45 minutes for eating. the ratio between ordering and eating is disproportionate; otherwise recommended for visitors who do not count to their daily meal;)
We were walking around the city looking for a place to sit and take something. the wooden tables on the jeans were the attractive that combined with the local beer was cool. Must-have for a coffee u an ice cream with a cough!
