My husband and I were strolling around Basel and the day we were in town not much was open. We stumbled upon Ramazzotti and chose to sit outside. The entire time we were patrons there, there were only about six other tables which had customers, including the inside, too. I mention this because service should have been better and more attentive than it was given it was a slow time. We ordered a pizza which cost CHF 25.50 And my husband had a Coke, at CHF 5.00, and I had a Sprite, at CHF 4.50 The pizza was nothing special, although large enough to share, and the crust wasn't bad. Still, nothing to write home about. If we are ever in Basel again, I seriously doubt we would seek out this restaurant since our overall impression was just, meh.
Good food, good, prompt service. Staff polite and helpful. Food was tasty although position of table in a side street with occasional traffic going by was a bit odd.
We made the terrible mistake of dropping by here on our way to Marketplatz. To the unacquainted, food is hideously expensive in Switzerland. A dirty street kebab will set you back CHF16 ! I dined here under duress as my companions were hungry
Stopped by for a "quick bite" while being shown around Basel by my cousin. We all ordered pizzas and salads. and beer of course. What could be bad!? We were a little skeptical about ordering pizza in Switzerland, but figured that since we were so close to Italy, we'd see if the Swiss had learned from the masters. Yes they did. Nice crispy crust with tasty tomato sauce and cheeses. We were pleasantly surprised. A side salad some nice cold beer "vom fass" (draft beer) that was excellent. we were all pretty happy. We didn't see any of the 'bad service' noted in some of the other posts. Ours was friendly and attentive. None of would have a problem coming back here. should we be in the area.Our only criticism would be the prices, but that extends to every restaurant in Switzerland as we found out. .Yikes, are the prices high here in Switzerland! If you're coming to Switzerland, get ready for some "sticker shock."
Located only a short distance from the busy Markplatz in the centre of Basel. Good value food well presented. Friendly staff who speak English. Eat inside or out. Recommended for a decent meal or snack at reasonable prices.
I ate here 4 out of 9 nights I was in Basel. Never had anything but a delicious meal. The service was very warm and quick. Even when the place was packed, our wait was never too long.
Very nice Italian restaurant in the heart of Basel one block from MarktPlatz. Very friendly staff, English speaking.
We visited the restaurant as two couples with 3 kids between us. We ordered our meals and drinks altogether but ended up waiting well over 45 minutes for the first 2 kids pizzas to arrive followed at least another 15 minutes later by the 3rd child's pasta and 2 adult meals. The child's pasta arrived with a hot chilli on it - very hot for an adult let alone a child. The last two adult meals arrived another 15 minutes or more later after several requests as to where the last two meals were. One meal was very cold in the middle and had to go back to the kitchen to be re heated. We ended up with our 2 families eating in 3 separate sittings. Such a shame to spoil a family get together. To cap it all we were given someone else's bill at the end of the evening! The food was ok but the service was very poor - in fact the worst I've experienced. I'm really hoping it was a bad evening and unrepresentative of the usual level of service at this establishment as it could have been have been such a lovely evening and we are not ones to complain. But we received not one single word of apology for the poor service.
