During a stay in Interlaken I visited Brienz with my husband. We found Cafe Walz where we had coffee and slices of one of their specialities which they sell in their patisserie next door, Berner Nusstorte (Bernese Nut Cake). We loved it so much that we went back for more on two other occasions. The Cafe is attractively furnished with seating inside and outside on the terrace. The view over lake Brienz is wonderful. The service was professional and friendly. There is a lovely walk back along the lake to the ship landing stage and railway station.
We have only visited here for coffees and cakes from the wonderful selection of homemade delicacies. Meals are also available during the day, and the cafe seems very popular with locals, which is always a good sign. With both outside and inside seating, this is an ideal situation on the shore of the lake.
A wonderful cruise on the lake & a wander around Brienz resulted in us finding this delightful café overlooking the lake. We opted for a light lunch from salad bar & a portion of chips to share, washed down with some local vino. The ambience & décor of the café was lovely, good choice at the salad bar, service laid back & efficient, not particularly cheap but worth it for the views. Would just love to visit again.
Stopped in Brienz for lunch and enjoyed the meal at Cafe Walz. We had a wonderful view of the lake and it's walking distance to the train station.
First and foremost it is very family friendly. attractive menu for kids with lots of games to keep them occupied. The rest of the menu is also good and the scenery is great as the restaurant is located on the lake. recommended.
Cafe Walz, part of Hotel Walz, is located on the lakefront at walking distance from the boat and the train stations. They have a nice terrasse overlooking the lake. Being there on a Friday, we went for the deep fried perch fillets with the buffet salad as starter. Perch fillets were fresh and crispy. Staff was friendly and efficient. Our waitress even made the effort to speak in French whereas it is not widely used in this part on the Bern canton.
We are staying in Brienz for two weeks and this tea room had been recommended . Great food , service was superb , good for children . We shall definitely be returning
It was very quiet at the restaurant when we sat down outside, having to ask if they were even open! But very quickly other couples joined us on the outdoor patio for a tasty meal and a sunset treat! Friendly atmosphere to keep to yourself or chat with other travelers.
