Stayed here on a cheap deal so reasonable value for the money - not sure I'd have been so content if I'd paid full whack. The combined reception/bar/lounge area is welcoming and relaxing. It's imaginatively furnished...post-industrial chic with stripped wood tables, comfy sofas and candlelit corners. There's a cool vibe about the place which appears to make it particularly appealing to younger folk. Our room was petty small. That's not a problem in itself for a weekend break, but the bed by comparison was way too big and took up most of the available space. This made it a very tight squeeze through to the bathroom and proved tough to negotiate in the dark...as demonstrated by Mrs B's bruised shins and colourful language. The least said about the complementary free wifi the better...as bad as I've experienced in a hotel. Just accessing bog standard websites proved frustratingly difficult. You probably need to access the paid-for service to get a decent signal. The restaurant is adequate if limited...decent steaks, burgers, salmon and the like. I'd avoid the green beans wrapped in bacon, though...mine was barely warmed through. Decent house wine, I thought.Staff are generally young, friendly, helpful, enthusiastic and, bar one cock-up over a taxi, highly efficient.Breakfast is pretty good - most of the usual fare with the scrambled eggs and fruit salad getting highest marks. It's a bracing (particularly in -4 deg January temperatures!) 20 min walk into the city centre but taxis didn't seem too pricey and there is an underground station not too far away.On balance, a decent enough place for a short break if you can get it at the right price.
