On Saturday night many of the restaurants in Zug aren't open, especially during the August break. We happened upon this Italian restaurant and ordered pizza. We all enjoyed our pizzas (which were substantial and tasty). One of our party managed to tuck into a very delicious looking sorbet for dessert too! The service here is excellent - our waiter was helpful, funny and fast!
Ive been here several times and its a restaurant i can suggest. You can sit in or outside, the personal take your order very quickly and the food is delicious. I had the salsiccia piccante pizza which is really tasty. In general a good place to have lunch, dinner or simply a coffee or drink.
While we ate here twice, it was exciting to have our first meal here. Pasta Bolognese was not as rich and thick as I hope. Caprese salad was passable. Pizza was delicious. Coke served warm, a Euro thing across the board. Although average and expensive, good enough to go more than once.
Food is nothing special. Service could be friendlier. Price normal for a Swiss Restaurant in Zug The new modern renovations are nice and the terrace to eat out in the summer is great. We chose this restaurant for its convenient location and close to parking.
We came to La Taverena for a light lunch. We were 8 persons and ordered drinks and 4 big pizzas to share, to which the waiter told us that it works this time but next time they won't let us to order just 4 pizzas for so many people. Altogether the waiter was quite annoying and kept asking 'just pizza? nothing else?' And we paid the bill with small money (coins and 20- and 50- CHF notes), he expressed his utter discontent! so we will never go there and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
The menu is classic Italian including salads and pizzas. I had a spicy pizza - perfect. Sit outside if the weather permits. And if you have the very good service we had, I am sure you will have a most enjoyable meal.
Stopped here for a traditional Swiss lunch. Very tasty wild boar! Nice outdoor seating area. Helpful wait staff. Most patrons appeared to be local which I considered a good sign. Not as pricey as many restaurants in Zug.
First, 3 stars is consistent with the over rating (politeness) of all area restaurants. It would have 2 anywhere else. If you know the Giardino, you know La Taverna, same group. The food is uninspired, the service the same. Good location and open when you feel like eating as opposed to when someone feels like cooking. Otherwise, nothing to draw you here. We find ourselves eating in Baar more and more. The restaurant situation has improved while Zug's has progressed in the opposite direction.
