Had both the Steinpilz Fondue and the Raclette and both were as they have to be, with friendly Service and a good petite Arvine a typical local experience with great value for money, a place you have to love!
We really enjoyed the experience of eating at Altels. Raclette and fondu for a truly Swiss meal and it was clear the restaurant mainly has locals eating there. Just what was needed. Sharing a table with a Swiss couple from Geneva allowed us to meet other people, even if they were tourists too. The service was friendly and the fondu was just fine.
It is not a fancy restaurant but popular with locals. Slightly of the the center of Leukerbad. Good for Raclette and typical Swiss dishes. Service is unpredictable as it depends if the owner and cook is preparing the Raclette or chatting with his friends and usual customers. If you do not mind waiting while drinking some Fendant wine it is fine. We were kindly advised by the waiter that two small bottles of wine were less expensive than the normal 0,75 bottle!
We shared a huge Cheese Fondue in this restaurant and had Fendant white wine from the region. The staff did its best to make its guests feel at home. When visiting Leukerbad again we will return to this restaurant.
The owner and his wife are friendly and welcoming. The owner is an Alphorn player and proud of it. We had traditional Swiss Roesti with loads of cheese and too much wine from the canton of Vallais. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will certainly go back next time we are in this beautiful part of Switzerland.
the restaurant offers Swiss food like Raclette or Fondue to a very fair price! the food is delicious. The owner asked us several times if everything is ok! friendly staff! can highly recommend the restaurant! also the white wine was great
Not a fancy but very original, rustic place, that gives the feeling of being in a Swiss granny‘s living room. We had a very nice mushroom fondue at a reasonable price. It‘s a very nice discovery a bit outside the main tourist places. It‘s small and very popular, I would recommend to book a table.
I agree with previous comment that they are racist. Since we entered the restaurant, they have been staring at us unfriendly, feeling like they are talking about us in German, and staring at us frequently (the guests at other tables are not stared like this). We feel really bad to eat here and the hot wine taste like water…And the rosti only has a little bacon inside… I rarely give negative reviews to restaurants, but the experience here is really bad. I will never ever come here again
